What we fix

Rainy Pass Repair specializes in sewing repairs on outdoor gear such as outerwear, tents, sleeping bags and packs. Our skilled technicians repair zippers, patch waterproof-breathable fabrics, and replace hardware and velcro. We do custom modifications and are trained to work with all technical fabrics currently used by the outdoor industry.

The repair we do most

Zipper diagram: tape, teeth and slider

Slider or zipper?

If your zipper separates when you try to close it, we most likely only need to replace the slider. If you see damage to the teeth or the tape, we may need to replace the whole zipper. Send a photo and we will tell you which.

Factory finish

Built the way the manufacturer built it

We use the same construction techniques as the industry manufacturers: felled seams on tent bodies, seam tape on flies and shells, 800 fill down and down-proof ripstop on down garments, DAC parts on poles. Fabrics and parts applied to the outside of an item will be visible, and we cannot guarantee a perfect color match, but the repair will perform like the original.

Every repair that leaves the shop carries a 1-year workmanship warranty and a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Repair questions

Do you only fix GORE-TEX®?

No. We repair and alter all other waterproof-breathable fabrics, coated fabrics, synthetic fabrics and some cotton and natural fabrics.

Can you patch down items?

Yes. We patch and repair down garments and sleeping bags, and replace zippers on down items.

Can you send me a part or a swatch of fabric?

No. Many of the fabrics we use are proprietary and not available through consumer channels. For technical fabric for a DIY project we recommend Seattle Fabrics.

Does my item need to be clean before I send it?

Yes. All items sent in for repair must be clean and free of debris. If it is not, add laundry service to your order and we will wash it first.

Not sure if it can be fixed?

Send photos. Estimates are free, and we tell you straight when something is past repair.
