  6. 6

    Back to you

FedEx Ground with tracking, or pick it up in Seattle. Every repair carries a 1-year workmanship warranty.

Packing your gear

  • Clean and dry. All items sent in for repair must be clean and free of debris, or add laundry to the order.
  • Print the packing slip from your repair order and put it in the box. It carries your order number and what you asked for.
  • For pole repairs, send only the poles. For zipper or fabric work, send only the piece that needs it.
  • Ship with FedEx, UPS or USPS and keep the tracking number. We process packages in the order received.
  • Warranty repair? Get the RA number from the manufacturer first and put it on the order.

After it arrives

We email you when it is checked in. Every order gets a detailed assessment, so allow 24 to 48 hours for the confirmed quote. Approve it and pay online, and the repair goes on the bench. Typical turnaround is 1 to 2 weeks; rush is available for a fee.

Every repair ships back FedEx Ground with tracking, insured to $100, and carries a 1-year workmanship warranty.

Sending questions

How do I send something in?

Start a repair order online, print the packing slip and put it in the box with your item. We accept daily deliveries from FedEx, UPS and USPS. Get a tracking number so you know when your item will arrive. We process packages in the order received. Once your order is checked in we email you that it has arrived and what happens next. Every order gets a detailed assessment, so it can take 24 to 48 hours to hear from us after your item arrives.

How do I request an estimate online?

Use the estimate request. Pick the gear type and the repair, add clear photos of the damage and of the whole item, and we reply with an estimate. We can only give a specific estimate when you include photos.

How long does a repair take?

Turnaround is typically 1 to 2 weeks in the shop, plus shipping each way. Rush service is available at our discretion: 50% rush fee for next-business-day, 30% for 4 business days. Shipping time is extra.

Is shipping included?

No. Shipping is not included in your estimate or price. We use FedEx Ground for return shipping to give you the best price with tracking. Estimates are free, but you are responsible for inbound and return shipping on all orders, whether or not we can do the repair. If you decide not to repair and do not want to pay return shipping, we can recycle the item at no charge.

Do you have a shop on the East Coast?

We have two locations: Seattle, WA and Morganton, NC. We accept orders by FedEx, UPS and USPS from anywhere in the USA and the world, and process everything from laundry to alterations at both. Walk-in service is only available in Seattle. In Morganton you can drop off at Foothills Gear Garage with your repair order reference number.

Is my repair covered under warranty?

We are the authorized repair facility for many companies that make outdoor gear, but always check with the manufacturer before sending us a warranty repair. Some companies require a return authorization number (RA#) that only the manufacturer can issue. If you have one, put it on your repair order. Rainy Pass Repair does not issue RA numbers.
